How Do I Fix the Search Page of Bing Automatically Jumping to the Top of the Page?

If the search page of Bing is automatically jumping to the top page, resolve it by restarting your browser and moving your fingers away from the mouse or touchpad. Restarting the browser fixes any bugs that cause the issue while moving your fingers away from the touchpad or mouse ensures that you don’t trigger abnormal page scrolling. If none of the two solutions, try the following solutions to fix the issues successfully:

  1. Perform preliminary solutions: In some cases, performing preliminary steps like restarting your browser, using private browsing, etc., can fix the issues. We recommend performing these solutions before heading to more complex ones. These fixes are meant to resolve simple issues like bugs, temporary technical issues, etc., which are known to trigger Bing and browsers to behave abnormally.
  2. Check Microsoft Edge settings: The issue can be caused by incorrect browser settings. If you recently made changes in your browser settings, you need to recheck if there is somewhere you misconfigured. You might have set something by mistake or someone else did. Try to reconfigure your settings, and we will show you how to go about it.
  3. Delete browsing data: Outdated or damaged browsing data can trigger Bing results to scroll to the top automatically. Deleting cache and cookies is a great way to ensure they don’t cause issues to your browser and search engines like Microsoft Bing. This is a clean-up exercise to remove outdated or corrupted browser data.
  4. Reset browser settings: Some extensions, bugs, settings, and faulty installations can cause the search results of Bing to automatically scroll to the top. When you reset browser settings, you return back to the default state. This means that if there were issues with your browser settings, the problem will be fixed and consequently fix Bing issues.
  5. Change the Bing script using an external tool:This is the last resort solution. Try this only if all other methods have failed to fix the error. Changing the Bing script is quite technical and for some users, it is close to impossible. For that reason, you can use a third-party extension to perform this task. In this case, we will use a Tampermonkey extension as an example.

Warning

Changing the Bing script can be dangerous and you should proceed with caution. It can change the overall performance of your browser or search engine. Only proceed with this if you are aware of what you are doing.

1. Perform preliminary solutions

  1. Try to search using Incognito or InPrivate browsing modes. This is not a solution but it will help you determine whether the cause is third-party cache and cookies.
