The Commercial and Fleet Parts Manager strives to return a satisfactory profit on dealer capital invested in parts inventory. Accomplishes objectives through the use of proper purchasing procedures, inventory control, staff utilization, security, pricing, merchandising, displaying and advertising. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Duties/Responsibilities
Has overall responsibility for the leadership and management of the Commercial Parts Department.
The responsibilities include, but are not limited to sales, safety, operations, inventory management, staffing, and personnel development.
Forecasts goals and objectives for each department and strives to meet them.
Hires, trains, motivates, counsels, and monitors the performance of all parts department staff.
Prepares and administers an annual operating budget for the Commercial Parts Department .
Maintains a balanced inventory consistent with the requirements of wholesale accounts.
Establishes pricing parameters in each customer category that generate sufficient gross profit to produce a satisfactory profit while maintaining customer loyalty.
Establishes individual parts inventory levels and balances them for maximum turnover.
Ensures that parts inventory turns the required times per year.
Monitors and adjusts inventory to minimize obsolescence.
Supervises stock order procedures.
Analyzes sales, expenses, and inventory monthly to maintain profit goals.
Coordinates a prompt, efficient and timely flow of paperwork.
Directs shipping and receiving efforts to ensure timely processing.
Assist with the creation of affordable advertising campaigns and programs to increase sales and brand visibility for the car dealership.
Attend manager meetings and establish good working relationships with owners, managers, and dealership staff to establish sales processes and recommend daily unit sales.
Implement growth strategies that align with automotive group objectives by carefully assessing profit and loss while maintaining vehicle inventory that meets the needs of the local market.
Develops and utilizes a lost sales tracking report.
Develops, enforces, and monitors guidelines for working with customers to ensure maximum customer satisfaction.
Meets with the controller/office manager monthly to review departmental forecasts for consistency with the annual forecast.
Meets with managers individually to develop monthly and annual goals and objectives, and to review actual performance.
Handles customer complaints immediately.
Assists in the collection of past-due accounts.
Enforces safety requirements, including but not limited to forklift training and operation, processing of MSDS sheets on all products carried and OSHA Right-to-Know.
Understands, keeps abreast of, and complies with federal, state, and local regulations that may affect parts sales.
Is directly responsible for managing designated employees, including but not limited to hiring, policy and procedure execution, time and attendance management, disciplinary proceedings, and the disbursem*nt and enforcement of training and information per SOAG policy, procedures, SOPs, and guidelines.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate.
Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages.
Must be able to lift and move work-related items up to 50 pounds.
Must be able to push, pull, lift, and bend at the knees and waist, twist body at the waist, raise and hold arms overhead, and turn head-neck-shoulders as needed.
Education And Experience
Five or more years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Must be able to pass a background check, drug screening, and Motor Vehicle Report.
Additional automotive certifications are encouraged.
