Do colleges care about NYLF? ›

Although NYLF claims to be prestigious and competitive, any high school student can enroll in one of its programs, and colleges do not find participating in it to be any more impressive than a normal summer camp or extracurricular.

For the summer 2024 NYLF Business Innovation program, all students are housed on the campus of Yale University in New Haven, CT or University of California, Berkeley Clark Kerr Campus in Berkeley, CA.

Over the course of your time at NYLF Medicine, you will: Participate in immersive workshops such as Disaster Triage and Outdoor Emergency Medicine. Spend one full day at a top medical school, experiencing life as a resident and hearing from real medical students and faculty.

It's not super selective- while students do get nominated or contacted like you did, basically anyone with a good academic record can apply on their own. Not to mention, thousands of students are nominated, which means it isn't as selective as some of the most impressive summer programs.

NHS offers college admission and financial aid planning resources. In addition, members participate in leadership development events.
