AURORA - The final four teams have been determined for the Colorado High School Activities Association's Baseball State Championships in each of the four classifications still competing; 2A, 3A, 4A and 5A.

In 5A, No. 2 Regis Jesuit advanced to Saturday’s championship game, while No. 5 Holy Family punched its ticket to the 4A title game, No. 1 Eaton will play in the 3A championship game and No. 2 Denver Christian secured its spot in the 2A finals.

The consolation brackets will feature contests between No. 5 Cherry Creek, No. 8 Prairie View and No. 16 Grandview in 5A; No. 6 Falcon, No. 2 Golden and No. 3 Pueblo County in 4A; No. 3 University, No. 4 Resurrection Christian and No. 5 Coal Ridge in 3A; and No. 12 Lyons, No. 1 Limon and No. 8 Buena Vista in 2A.

Play will begin on Friday, May 31 at all four sites with the third-round consolation game at 10 a.m. The fourth-round consolation game will be played at 12:30 p.m. The winner of the fourth-round consolation game will advance to Saturday’s championship game at 10 a.m. Since it’s a double-elimination bracket, if the winner of the championship game is the team advancing through the consolation bracket, there will be a rematch between the two teams at 12:30 p.m.

5A Final Four Teams

  • No. 2 Regis Jesuit will be looking to win its fourth baseball state championship and first since 2019. The Raiders will next play in the state title game after beating No. 7 Fort Collins, 3-1, No. 11 Cherokee Trail, 3-0, and No. 5 Cherry Creek, 3-0.
  • No. 5 Cherry Creek would be looking for its ninth state title in baseball and first since 2012. The Bruins are tied for the third-most state championships in state history and hold the most of any 5A team. Cherry Creek opened the state tournament with wins over No. 13 Chaparral, 8-0, and No. 16 Grandview, 4-1, before falling to No. 2 Regis Jesuit, 3-0. The Bruins will need to advance to the title game through the consolation bracket and then defeat Regis Jesuit twice for the state title.
  • No. 8 Prairie Viewis in search of its first-ever state championship in any sport. The Thunderhawks will need to advance to the final game through the consolation bracket as it lost to No. 16 Grandview in the opening game of the state tournament. Prairie View kept its tournament hopes alive as it knocked off No. 13 Chaparral, 5-2, and No. 11 Cherokee Trail, 5-2, in the first and second round consolation games, respectively. Up next is a rematch of its tournament opening game vs. Grandview.
  • No. 16 Grandviewwill be playing for its first-ever state title in baseball and second state championship this year, as the Wolves also won the esports champoinship for Super Smash Bros. Grandview will need to advance to the championship game through the consolation bracket and then defeat Regis Jesuit twice to capture the state title. Grandview opened its state championship play with a 13-5 win over No. 8 Prairie before falling to No. 5 Cherry Creek, 4-1. In the second round consolation game, Grandview knocked off No. 7 Fort Collins, 6-3. Up next is a second meeting with No. 8 Prairie View.

4A Final Four Teams

  • No. 5 Holy Family will advance directly to Saturday’s championship game where it will be looking for its fourth baseball championship and its first at the 4A level. The Tigers won three titles in a five-year span, defeating Eaton in 2010, 2013 and 2014, before moving up to 4A. Holy Family has run undefeated through the state tournament with wins over No. 4 Palisade, 7-3, top-seeded Windsor, 9-4, and No. 6 Falcon, 11-6.
  • No. 6 Falcon is looking to secure its first-ever state title in baseball and the school’s first state championship overall since 2008. The Falcons have already beat two of the tournament’s top-three seeds as they picked up a 5-4 win over No. 3 Pueblo County in the first round and then a 7-2 win over No. 2 Golden in the second round. With the 11-6 loss to No. 5 Holy Family, the Falcons will need to advance through the consolation bracket and then, if they make the championship game, they will need to beat Holy Family twice to win the title.
  • No. 2 Golden will look to make its way to the Championship Game through the consolation bracket. The Demons will be looking for their second-ever state title in baseball, and first since 2003. Golden won its first game of the state tournament on Friday, defeating No. 7 Lewis-Palmer, 4-0. It then lost to No. 6 Falcon, 7-2, before escaping elimination in the second round consolation game, where it defeated No. 4 Palisade, 15-5. Golden will next play Friday in the third round consolation game against No. 3 Pueblo County.
  • No. 3 Pueblo County will look to keep its hot streak alive as it makes a run for its first-ever baseball state championship. The Hornets are looking to advance through the consolation bracket as they fell to No. 6 Falcon, 5-4, in the opening game of the state tournament. They've since rebounded in the consolation bracket with a 10-0 win over No. 7 Lewis-Palmer before upsetting top-seeded Windsor, 17-15 to advance to the third round consolation where they will meet No. 2 Golden.

3A Final Four Teams

  • No. 1 Eaton would stretch its streak to four-straight state championships with a victory, as the Reds – winners of more state championships than any other school in state history with 15 titles - have won each of the last three state championships. The Reds opened this year’s state tournament with a 6-5 win over No. 8 Forge Christian before defeating No. 5 Coal Ridge, 14-4, and No. 3 University, 2-0.
  • No. 3 University is looking to avenge championship game losses to Eaton each of the last two years and win its first state title since it won back-to-back titles in 2018 and 2019. Overall, University has won five state titles in baseball, with the first coming in 1982. This year, the Bulldogs secured wins over No. 6 Colorado Academy, 5-2, and No. 2 Berthoud, 6-4, before falling to No. 1 Eaton, 2-0, in the semifinals. University will look to make its way to the championship game through the consolation bracket, where it would need to beat Eaton twice for the title.
  • No. 4 Resurrection Christian is looking for its third baseball state championship and first since 2014. The Cougars will need to advance to the championship game through the consolation bracket, where they will meet No. 5 Coal Ridge for a second time. Coal Ridge got the best of Resurrection Christian in the first round, 11-0, but the Cougars have since eliminated No. 8 Forge Christian, 7-6, and No. 2 Berthoud, 12-7.
  • No. 5 Coal Ridgeis playing for its first-ever state title in baseball. The Titans opened the state tournament with an 11-0 win over No. 4 Resurrection Christian but then fell to three-time defending champion and top-seeded Eaton, 14-4 in the second round. In the second round consolation game, Coal Ridge got past No. 10 The Classical Academy, 7-6, and will look to continue to advance through the consolation bracket in its rematch with No. 4 Resurrection Christian.

2A Final Four Teams

  • No. 2 Denver Christian is looking to defend its title from a year ago and win its fourth state title in baseball, as the Thunder also won state in 1996 and 2013. Denver Christian has cruised through the tournament so far, picking up wins over No. 7 Monte Vista, 4-1, No. 11 Dayspring Christian, 11-2, and No. 12 Lyons, 6-2, to advance to next Saturday’s Championship Game.
  • No. 12 Lyons is seeking its first state title in baseball and the school’s first state title in any sport since 2019. The Lions earned a first-round win over No. 13 Swink, 12-2, before upsetting top-seeded Limon, 5-1. The Lions fell to No. 2 Denver Christian, 6-2, in the semifinals though and will need to advance to the title game through the consolation bracket.
  • No. 1 Limon, playing through the consolation bracket, is searching for its fifth overall title and third in the last four years, as it captured state championships in 2021 and 2022. The Badgers opened the state tournament with a 17-7 win over No. 8 Buena Vista – the same team it’ll face in its next game – before falling to No. 12 Lyons, 5-1. In the second-round consolation game, Limon defeated No. 3 Las Animas, 2-1.
  • No. 8 Buena Vista is on the hunt for its first-ever state title in baseball and the school’s first state championship since 2020. After losing to top-seeded Limon, 17-7, in the opening game of the state tournament, the Demons rebounded for wins over No. 13 Swink, 6-5, No. 11 Dayspring Christian, 7-4, in the first two consolation rounds. Buena Vista will face No. 1 Limon again with the winner advancing to the fourth-round consolation game.
